Power Transistor (Ignition Module)

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

1.6L, 2.0L DOHC, and 2.4L DOHC Engines

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Detach the electrical connectors for the transistor.
3. Remove the retaining screws and remove the transistor from engine.
4. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

1.8L and 1999–00 2.4L Engines

The power transistor (ignition module) is an integral part of the powertrain control module.

3.0L DOHC Engine

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the intake manifold plenum (upper intake manifold). Refer to Section 3.
3. Detach the electrical connectors for the transistor.
4. Remove the retaining screws and remove the transistor from engine.
5. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
