Before removing the distributor, position No. 1 cylinder at TDC on the compression
stroke and align the timing marks.
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning
of this section.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
- Negative battery cable
- Ignition wire cover, if equipped
- Distributor harness connector
- Distributor cap with all ignition wires still connected
- Coil wire, if necessary
- Matchmark the rotor to the distributor housing, and the distributor housing
to the engine.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
- Hold-down nut
- Distributor from the engine
