Coolant

Filling & Bleeding

  1. Remove the front and rear heat protectors from the Exhaust Manifold.
  2. Loosen the Radiator drain plug, remove left and right bank drain plugs from the engine block, and remove the Radiator cap to discharge the coolant.
  3. Remove the reserve tank then discharge the coolant.
  4. Once the coolant has been discharged, pour water through the filler port to flush the coolant passage.
  5. Coat the threads of the engine drain plugs with 3M Nut Locking Sealant (#4171), or an equivalent, and tighten the plugs to 29 ft-lb (40 Nm).
  6. Fit the Radiator drain plug securely.
  7. Mount the reserve tank.
  8. Slowly pour coolant into the Radiator up to the rim.
  9. Slowly pour coolant into the reserve tank up to the "full" line.

    CAUTION
    The manufacturer-recommended antifreeze is: Diaqueen Long Life Coolant (#0103044). You can also use high-quality ethylene glycol antifreeze Coolant. The recommended quantity is: 10.0 qts. (9.5 dm3).

  10. Install the Radiator cap securely.
  11. Start the engine and warm it up until the Thermostat opens.
  12. Race the engine up to about 3,000 r/min several times, then stop the engine.
  13. Once the coolant has cooled down, remove the Radiator cap and add coolant up to the rim. Add coolant to the reserve tank up to the "full" line.
