Exhaust Manifold

Removal & Installation

2.0L Engine

To Remove:

1. Remove the under cover.
2. Remove the power steering and A/C compressor belt.
3. Remove the power steering pump without disconnecting the fluid line and secure it out of the way.
4. Disconnect the front exhaust pipe from the manifold.
5. Remove the exhaust manifold bracket.
6. Remove the oxygen sensor.
7. Remove the heat shield.
8. Remove the exhaust manifold and gasket.

To Install:

1. Install the exhaust manifold and gasket.
2. Install the heat shield.
3. Install the oxygen sensor.
4. Install the exhaust manifold bracket.
5. Connect the front exhaust pipe.
6. Install the power steering pump.
7. Install the power steering and A/C compressor belt.
8. Install the under cover.

2.0L Turbo Engine

To Remove:

1. Remove the under cover.
2. Remove the radiator.
3. Remove the air ducts.
4. Remove the crossmember bar.
5. Remove the engine roll stopper from center member.
6. Remove the front exhaust pipe.
7. Remove the exhaust manifold cover.
8. Remove the oxygen sensor.
9. Remove the turbocharger heat shield.
10. Disconnect the coolant pipe from the turbocharger.
11. Disconnect the oil feed pipe from the turbocharger. Do not allow dirt or foreign objects to enter the oil pipe.
12. Remove the starter motor.
13. Remove the turbocharger oil return pipe and gasket. Note the direction of the tab on the gasket.
14. Disconnect the vacuum hose.
15. Remove the air outlet fitting and gasket. Note the direction of the tab on the gasket.
16. Remove the exhaust fitting bracket.
17. Remove the turbocharger and exhaust fitting assembly.
18. Remove the exhaust manifold and gasket.

To Install:

1. Install the exhaust manifold with a new gasket.
2. Install the turbocharger and exhaust fitting assembly.
3. Install the exhaust fitting bracket.
4. Install the air outlet fitting with a new gasket. Install the gasket with the tab as shown.
5. Connect the vacuum hose.
6. Install the turbocharger oil return pipe with a new gasket. Install the gasket with the tab as shown.
7. Install the starter motor.
8. Make sure the pipe is clean and connect the oil feed pipe to the turbocharger.
9. Connect the coolant pipe to the turbocharger.
10. Install the turbocharger heat shield.
11. Install the oxygen sensor.
12. Install the exhaust manifold cover.
13. Install the front exhaust pipe.
14. Install the engine center member roll stopper.
15. Install the crossmember bar.
16. Install the air ducts.
17. Install the radiator.
18. Install the under cover.

2.4L Engine

To Remove:

1. Remove the under cover.
2. Remove the front exhaust pipe bracket.
3. Disconnect the front exhaust pipe from the manifold.
4. Remove the exhaust manifold and gasket.

To Install:

1. Install the exhaust manifold with a new gasket.
2. Connect the front exhaust pipe to the manifold.
3. Install the front exhaust pipe bracket.
4. Install the under cover.
