Exhaust Manifold

Removal & Installation

2.4L Engine

To Remove:

Exhaust manifold removal/installation (2.4L)

  1. Remove the oxygen sensors.
  2. Remove the manifold cover.
  3. Disconnect the front exhaust pipe from the manifold.
  4. Remove the bracket.
  5. Remove the exhaust manifold and gasket.

To Install:

  1. Install the exhaust manifold with a new gasket.
  2. Install the bracket.
  3. Disconnect the front exhaust pipe from the manifold.
  4. Install the manifold cover.
  5. Install the oxygen sensors.
3.8L Engine
Left Exhaust Manifold

To Remove:

Left exhaust manifold removal/installation (3.8L)

  1. Remove the engine under cover and the air cleaner duct.
  2. Remove the oxygen sensors.
  3. Remove the heat shield.
  4. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the manifold.
  5. Remove the exhaust manifold stay.
  6. Remove the exhaust manifold and gasket.

To Install:

  1. Clean the sealing surfaces.
  2. Install the exhaust manifold with a new gasket.
  3. Install the exhaust manifold stay.
  4. Connect the exhaust pipe to the manifold.
  5. Install the heat shield.
  6. Install the oxygen sensors.
  7. Install the engine under cover and the air cleaner duct.
Right Exhaust Manifold

To Remove:

Right exhaust manifold removal/installation (3.8L)

  1. Remove the air cleaner and duct.
  2. Remove the battery.
  3. Remove the under cover.
  4. Remove the front exhaust pipe.
  5. Remove the strut tower brace.
  6. Drain the engine coolant.
  7. Remove the steering gear and linkage protector.
  8. Remove the center under floor heat shield.
  9. Remove the front under floor heat shield.
  10. Remove the exhaust manifold stay.
  11. Remove the oxygen sensors.
  12. Remove the EGR tube.
  13. Remove the heat shields.
  14. Remove the exhaust manifold.

To Install:

  1. Clean the sealing surfaces.
  2. Install the exhaust manifold with a new gasket.
  3. Install the heat shields.
  4. Install the EGR tube.
  5. Install the oxygen sensors.
  6. Install the exhaust manifold stay.
  7. Install the front under floor heat shield.
  8. Install the center under floor heat shield.
  9. Install the steering gear and linkage protector.
  10. Install the strut tower brace.
  11. Install the front exhaust pipe.
  12. Install the under cover.
  13. Install the battery.
  14. Install the air cleaner and duct.
  15. Refill the coolant.
