Throttle Body

Removal & Installation

2.4L Engine

To Remove:

Throttle body removal/installation (2.4L)

  1. Partially drain the engine coolant.
  2. Remove the air cleaner cover and intake duct.
  3. Remove the battery.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  5. Disconnect the coolant hoses.
  6. Remove the throttle body and gasket.

To Install:

  1. Install the throttle body with a new gasket.
  2. Connect the coolant hoses.
  3. Connect the electrical connector.
  4. Install the battery.
  5. Install the air cleaner cover and intake duct.
  6. Refill the engine coolant.
  7. Turn the ignition ON and then back OFF for at least 10 seconds to synchronize the PCM with the throttle body.
3.8L Engine

To Remove:

Throttle body removal/installation (3.8L)

  1. Partially drain the engine coolant.
  2. Remove the intake air duct.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  4. Disconnect the coolant hoses.
  5. Remove the throttle body and gasket. Note the placement of the bump on the edge of the gasket.

To Install:

  1. Install the throttle body with a new gasket. Make sure to install the gasket with the bump at the top and to the right.
  2. Connect the coolant hoses.
  3. Connect the electrical connector.
  4. Install the intake air duct.
  5. Refill the engine coolant.
  6. Turn the ignition ON and then back OFF for at least 10 seconds to synchronize the PCM with the throttle body.
