Removal & Installation

2.4L Engine

To Remove:

1. Remove the side under cover.
2. Remove the drive belt.
3. Remove the harness bracket.
4. Remove the connector bracket.
5. Remove the generator cover and generator assembly.
6. Remove the timing belt lower cover.
7. Remove the generator mounting bracket.

To Install:

1. Install the generator mounting bracket.
2. Install the timing belt lower cover.
3. Install the generator assembly and generator cover.
4. Install the connector bracket.
5. Install the harness bracket.
6. Install the drive belt.
7. Install the side under cover.

3.8L Engine

To Remove:

1. Remove the side under cover.
2. Remove the generator drive belt.
3. Disconnect the control wiring harness connection.
4. While the hose is installed, remove the A/C compressor and clutch assembly.
5. First move the A/C compressor aside, then remove the generator assembly from underneath the vehicle.
6. Remove the harness bracket.
7. Remove the dipstick and dipstick guide.
8. Remove the O-ring.
9. Remove the generator bracket.

To Install:

1. Install the generator bracket.
2. Install the O-ring.
3. Install the dipstick guide and dipstick.
4. Install the harness bracket.
5. Install the generator assembly onto the generator bracket.
6. First hand-tighten the generator mounting bolts, then tighten them to 36 ft-lb (49 Nm). Tighten the front bottom bolt first, the back bottom bolt second, and the top bolt third.
7. Install the A/C compressor and clutch assembly.
8. Install the control wiring harness connection.
