EGR Temperature Sensor

OPERATION

The EGR temperature sensor converts changes in the EGR gas temperature downstream of the EGR valve to voltages and inputs these signals to the ECM. The ECM uses these pulses to keep track of the condition of the EGR system. When the signal is judged to be abnormal, the engine warning lamp lights up to inform the driver.

The EGR temperature sensor terminal voltage changes with the EGR gas temperature, dropping as the EGR gas temperature rises.

The EGR temperature sensor is located on the top right-hand (driver's) side of the engine intake manifold plenum.
