The shifter assemblies on the Mitsubishi Pick-up trucks and Monteros are not adjustable. If the shifter shows play between the upper control lever and lower control lever, replace the lever assembly with a new assembly. Check the lever bushing for wear and replace the bushing if any wear is found. Push the shifter lever in and check that it moves smoothly up and down. If the rubber cover has any damage to it (cracks or rips), replace the cover.
