Code No. P1617: Battery Voltage Low During Idle Stop
 
 
 
 
FUNCTION
  • The engine ECU monitors the battery voltage during an auto stop.
 
 
TROUBLE JUDGEMENT
Check Condition
  • Ignition switch is "ON" position.
Judgement Criterion
  • Decrease in battery voltage (low voltage side) is detected 5 or more times.
or
  • Decrease in battery voltage (high voltage side) is detected 2 or more times.
 
 
FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
  • In the normal operation, the auto stop is prohibited.
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSE
  • Failed battery
  • Failed engine-ECU
 
 
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Check battery.
  • Battery check (Refer to GROUP 54A - Battery - On-vehicle Service - Battery Test ).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Replace the battery.
 
STEP 2. M.U.T.-IIISE diagnosis code
  • Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Replace the engine-ECU.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
