Code No. P2565: Waste Gate Position Sensor Circuit High Input
OPERATION
- A power voltage of 5 V is applied to the electronic-controlled waste gate actuator from the engine-ECU connector terminal WGP5.
- The power voltage is earthed to the engine-ECU connector terminal WGPG from the electronic-controlled waste gate actuator.
- The sensor signal is inputted to the engine-ECU connector terminal WGPS from the electronic-controlled waste gate actuator output terminal.
FUNCTION
- The waste gate position sensor converts the turbocharger waste gate regulating valve position into voltage and inputs it into the engine-ECU.
- The engine-ECU controls the waste gate opening angle.
TROUBLE JUDGEMENT
Check Conditions
- After 2 seconds since the ignition switch is turned ON or since the completion of engine start.
- Battery positive voltage is more than 6 V.
Judgement Criterion
- Waste gate position sensor output voltage is more than 4.8 V for 2 seconds.
FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
- Stop driving the waste gate actuator control servo.
- Torque is restricted.
PROBABLE CAUSES
- Failed waste gate position sensor
- Open circuit and harness damage in waste gate position sensor circuit or loose connector contact
- Failed engine-ECU
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. M.U.T.-IIISE data list
- Item 127: Waste gate position sensor
OK: Changes when the waste gate operates.
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions
).
Go to Step 2.
STEP 2. Perform resistance measurement at electronic-controlled waste gate actuator connector.
- Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
- Resistance between terminal engine-ECU WGPG line and body earth.
OK: Continuity (2 Ω or less)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Go to Step 3.
STEP 3. Check of open circuit, and damage in WGPG line between electronic-controlled waste gate actuator connector and engine-ECU connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
STEP 4. M.U.T.-IIISE data list
- Item 127: Waste gate position sensor
OK: Changes when the waste gate operates.
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions
).
Replace the engine-ECU.
STEP 5. Replace the turbocharger assembly
- After replacing the turbocharger assembly, reconfirm whether the diagnosis code is set.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Replace the engine-ECU.
Check end.
