FUNCTION
  • The engine-ECU monitors and checks communication with the CVT-ECU.
 
 
TROUBLE JUDGEMENT
Check Condition
  • Ignition switch is "ON" position.
Judgement Criterion
  • Engine-ECU detects an error in communication between engine-ECU and CVT-ECU.
 
 
FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
  • Engine output is restricted.
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Failed CVT-ECU.
  • Failed engine-ECU.
 
 
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. M.U.T.-IIISE diagnosis code
Is the diagnosis code of U0101 set?
Check CVT-ECU time-out. Check code No. U0101: CVT-ECU time-out (Refer to ).
Go to Step 2.
 
STEP 2. M.U.T.-IIISE other system diagnosis code
  • Confirm whether the diagnosis code is set in the CVT-ECU.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Perform troubleshooting of CVT system (Refer to GROUP 23A - Troubleshooting - Diagnosis Code Chart ).
Go to Step 3.
 
STEP 3. M.U.T.-IIISE diagnosis code
  • Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Replace the engine-ECU.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
