Air-bleeding the electric oil pump
2018 / ECLIPSE CROSS / EC - Workshop Manual
23 -AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION > 23A-CVT > ON-VEHICLE SERVICE > ELECTRIC OIL PUMP AIR BLEEDING
cautionYou should air-bleed the electric oil pump and its associated oil channels when any of the operations below is carried out:
  • CVT fluid drain and refill
  • CVT fluid change
  • Electric oil pump removal and installation
  • CVT-ECU replacement

<Using M.U.T.-IIISE>
cautionWhen the engine was running, stop the engine and wait for at least 60 seconds.
The following conditions must be satisfied:
  • Selector lever position: P range
  • Battery voltage: 10.5 V or more
  • Engine stopped
  • Line pressure: 0.5 MPa or less
  • The electric oil pump system works normally

1. Move the selector lever to P position.
2. Ensure that the ignition switch is in the LOCK (OFF) position, and then connect the M.U.T.-IIISE.
3.
cautionDo not start the engine.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
4. Use the M.U.T.-IIISE to execute "Electric oil pump air bleeding".
note
  • The selector lever position display (in the combination meter) is switched from "P" to "A".
  • It may take approximately 40 seconds until the air-bleeding completes.
  • After it has completed, the status for the CVT-ECU will be reset.
5. "Comp.judge wait" must be displayed in service data item "No.33: Elec.oil pump air bleeding state".
If not, turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (OFF) position and repeat the operation from step 1.
note
  • After the air-bleeding has completed, the selector lever position display (in the combination meter) will be switched from "A" to "P".
  • If the air-bleeding fails, "A" and "P" will be displayed alternately.
6. Start the engine and wait for 10 seconds.
7.
cautionDo not start the engine.
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (OFF) position, and then the ON position (but do not start the engine). Then wait for 60 seconds.
8. Check the M.U.T.-IIISE data list "No.33: Elec.oil pump air bleeding state". If "Completed" is displayed, further action is not needed.
If not, repeat the operation from step 7.
If "Fail (Timeout)" is displayed, repeat the operation from step 1.

<Not using M.U.T.-IIISE>
1. Perform a test run of the vehicle.
2. Stop the vehicle to activate the AS&G system.*
3. Road test the vehicle again, and then turn the ignition switch to LOCK (OFF).
note*: If the system detects a low line pressure due to idling stop which the AS&G system has triggered, the system will activate the electric oil pump for certain period even after the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK (OFF) position.
