Code No. C2254: IG SW malfunction

OPERATION
The IG1 signal is delivered from the ETACS-ECU (IG1 relay) through the multi-purpose fuse to the electric parking brake ECU.

DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS
If the IG1 signal circuit remains open or short to earth for at least three seconds, the diagnosis code will be set.

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Damaged wiring harness or connector
    • Open or short to earth in the wires between the ETACS-ECU and the electric parking brake ECU, or high resistance in a connector
    • Blown fuse
  • Malfunction of the electric parking brake ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Measure the voltage at the electric parking brake ECU connector.
(1) Disconnect the electric parking brake ECU connector and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(3) Measure the voltage between the IG1 terminal and body earth.
OK: Battery voltage
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
The IG1 signal circuit may be open or short to earth. Repair the wiring harness wires or connectors between the electric parking brake ECU connector and the ETACS-ECU.

STEP 2. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.
Check again if the diagnosis code is set.
(1) Erase the diagnosis code.
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (OFF) position.
(3) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(4) Operate the electric parking brake switch to apply the electric parking brake.
(5) Check if the diagnosis code is set.
Is diagnosis code No. C2254 set?
Replace the electric parking brake ECU (Refer to ).
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
