Inspection Procedure 2: Keyless entry hazard lamp answerback function or the room lamp answerback function does not work normally.
 
 
cautionWhenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.
 
 
 
 
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If the hazard warning lamp and the room lamp work normally, the ETACS-ECU may be defective.
Alternatively, it is possible that the keyless entry hazard lamp answerback function was disabled by the customise function.
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Function setting error or no setting with a customisation
  • Defective hazard warning lamp
  • Malfunction of the room lamp
  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
 
 
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Check the operation of the hazard warning lamp.
Check that the hazard warning lamp illuminates normally.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2
Refer to GROUP 54A, Hazard Warning Lamp Switch, Inspection Procedure 1 "The hazard warning lamp do not illuminate ."
 
STEP 2. Check the operation of the room lamp.
Check that the room lamp illuminates normally.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3
Refer to GROUP 54A - Interior Lamp, Symptom Chart .
 
STEP 3. Check the operation of the keyless entry system.
If the keyless entry system is operated, check that the doors can be locked and unlocked normally.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4
Refer to Inspection Procedure 1: "Keyless entry system does not work ."
 
STEP 4. Check the customisation function.
Using the customisation function of the "Hazard answer back," check that the number of flashings of hazard warning lamp is set to any of the followings other than "Lock:0, Unlock:0."
  • Lock:1, Unlock:2
  • Lock:1, Unlock:0
  • Lock:0, Unlock:2
  • Lock:2, Unlock:1
  • Lock:0, Unlock:1
  • Lock:2, Unlock:0
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5
Enable the keyless entry hazard lamp answerback function by using the customisation function (Refer to ).
 
STEP 5. Retest the system.
Check that the keyless entry hazard lamp answerback function or the room lamp answerback function works normally.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the ETACS-ECU and register the ID codes (Refer to ).
