cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
 
 
DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
The ETACS-ECU will set diagnosis code No. B1E2D when the windshield wiper auto-stop relay circuit fails.
 
 
JUDGEMENT CRITERIA
Diagnosis code No. B1E2D will be set when the ETACS-ECU detects that all of the following conditions are satisfied.
  • Wiper switch: LO or HI
  • The windshield wiper auto-stop relay inside the ETACS-ECU remains off or on for at least 3 seconds.
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of windshield wiper motor
  • The wiring harness or connectors may have loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector
  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
 
 
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Check the windshield wiper motor.
Check that the windshield wiper motor works normally.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Replace the windshield wiper motor.
 
STEP 2. Check of short to power supply circuit, short to earth circuit in W.AS line between the windshield wiper motor connector and ETACS-ECU connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 3. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.
Check again if the diagnosis code No.B1E2D is set in the ETACS-ECU.
(1) Erase the diagnosis code.
(2) Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
(3) Turn the wiper switch to the LO or HI position and hold it for at least three seconds.
(4) Check if diagnosis code is set.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Replace the ETACS-ECU.
