cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
 
 
DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
Diagnosis code No. B1E1A will be set when the rear fog lamp control circuit fails.
 
 
JUDGEMENT CRITERIA
Diagnosis code No. B1E1A will be set if the ETACS-ECU detects a short between itself and the rear fog lamp.
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of the rear fog lamp bulb
  • Malfunction of the rear fog lamp assembly
  • Rear fog lamp control circuit fails
  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
 
 
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Bulb check
Check whether the rear fog lamp bulb is blown or installed improperly.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2
Replace or reinstall the rear fog lamp bulb.
 
STEP 2. Check of short to power supply circuit in RFOG line between the rear fog lamp connector and ETACS-ECU connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 3. Check of short to power earth circuit in earth line between the rear fog lamp connector and body earth.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 4. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.
Check again if the diagnosis code No.B1E1A is set in the ETACS-ECU.
(1) Erase the diagnosis code.
(2) Turn on the rear fog lamp.
(3) Check the diagnosis code No.B1E1A is set.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Go to Step 5
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
 
STEP 5. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.
Check again if the diagnosis code No.B1E1A is set in the ETACS-ECU.
(1) Erase the diagnosis code.
(2) Disconnect the rear fog lamp connector.
(3) Turn on the rear fog lamp.
(4) Check the diagnosis code No.B1E1A is set.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Replace the ETACS-ECU.
Replace a rear fog lamp socket and rear fog lamp unit.
