Code No.B1E1D +Battery Roomlamp Overload or Short Circuit
 
 
cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
 
 
DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
If any of the following lamps does not come on, the ETACS-ECU will set diagnosis code No. B1E1D.
  • Front room lamp
  • Rear room lamp
  • Luggage compartment lamp
  • Vanity mirror lamp
 
 
JUDGEMENT CRITERIA
Diagnosis code No. B1E1D will be set if the ETACS-ECU detects a short between itself and each of the lamps.
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of the front room lamp bulb
  • Malfunction of the front room lamp body
  • Malfunction of the rear room lamp bulb
  • Malfunction of the rear room lamp body
  • Malfunction of luggage room lamp bulb
  • Malfunction of luggage room lamp body
  • Malfunction of the vanity mirror lamp bulb
  • Malfunction of the sun visor
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
 
 
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Bulb check
Check that the following bulbs are installed correctly.
  • Front room lamp bulb
  • Rear room lamp bulb
  • Luggage room lamp bulb
  • Vanity mirror lamp bulb
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2
Replace or reinstall a bulb of the front room lamp, the rear room lamp, the luggage room lamp or the vanity mirror lamp.
 
STEP 2. Check the following wiring harness.
Check the wiring harness for short circuit between the following connectors:
  • Check of short circuit in LP+1 line front room lamp connector and ETACS-ECU connector.
  • Check of short circuit in LP+1 line rear room lamp connector and ETACS-ECU connector.
  • Check of short circuit in LP+2 line luggage room lamp connector and ETACS-ECU connector.
  • Check of short circuit in LP+1 line vanity mirror lamp connector and ETACS-ECU connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 3. Check the following wiring harness.
Check the wiring harness for short to earth circuit between the following connectors:
  • Check of short circuit in earth line front room lamp connector and body earth.
  • Check of short circuit in earth line rear room lamp connector and body earth.
  • Check of short circuit in earth line luggage room lamp connector and body earth.
  • Check of short circuit in earth line vanity mirror lamp connector and body earth.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4
Repair the wiring harness.
 
STEP 4. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.
Check again if the diagnosis code No.B1E1D is set in the ETACS-ECU.
(1) Erase the diagnosis code.
(2) Turn on the corresponding lamp.
(3) Check the diagnosis code No.B1E1D is set.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Go to Step 5.
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
 
STEP 5. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.
Check again if the diagnosis code No.B1E1D is set in the ETACS-ECU.
(1) Erase the diagnosis code.
(2) Disconnect connector (a).
  1. Front room lamp body
  2. Rear room lamp body
  3. Luggage room lamp body
  4. Ssun visor
(3) Turn on the corresponding lamp.
(4) Check the diagnosis code No.B1E1D is set.
(5) Repeat steps (1) to (4) for parts (b) to (d) to determine a fault cause.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Replace the ETACS-ECU.
Replace a defective bulb (the front room lamp body, the rear room lamp body, the luggage room lamp body or the sun visor).
