Inspection Procedure 2: The USB adapter data cannot be replayed.
 
 
cautionBefore replacing the hands free-ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal. Check that the USB memory device or iPod® is also normal.
 
 
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If the sound replay is impossible with the USB mode, USB cable, hands free-ECU, or radio and CD player <vehicles with radio and CD player> or multivision display <vehicles with MMCS> may be defective, or a communication error between the radio and CD player <vehicles with radio and CD player> or multivision display <vehicles with MMCS> and hands free-ECU may have occurred.
noteBefore troubleshooting, check that the music file (the customer tried to replay) can be replayed.
 
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of the radio and CD player <vehicles with radio and CD player>.
  • Malfunction of the multivision display <vehicles with MMCS>.
  • Malfunction of the hands free-ECU
  • Malfunction of the USB cable
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
 
 
 
 
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Check the radio and CD player <vehicles with radio and CD player> or multivision display <vehicles with MMCS> operation.
Check if the radio and CD player <vehicles with radio and CD player> or the multivision display <vehicles with MMCS> normally and the sound is output.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Troubleshoot the radio and CD player or multivision display. (Refer to <vehicles with radio and CD player> or <vehicles with MMCS>.)
 
STEP 2. Check the diagnosis mode.
Check if the hands free-ECU can be switched to the diagnosis mode. (Refer to <vehicles with 1CD audio>, <vehicles with display audio> or <vehicles with MMCS>)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Perform Inspection Procedure 5 "DIAGNOSIS MODE cannot be made an entry." (Refer to .)
 
STEP 3. Check the USB cable.
Check that the USB cable is connected to the USB adapter or hands free-ECU normally. Or check the USB cable for damage such as bend.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Replace or repair the USB cable.
 
STEP 4. Check of short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit in OUTL and OUTR lines between hands free-ECU connector and radio and CD player <vehicles with radio and CD player> or multivision display <vehicles with MMCS> connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 5. Replace the hands free-ECU temporarily, and check the trouble symptom.
Replace the hands free-ECU temporarily, and check that the sound is output from the speaker.
Is the check result normal?
Replace the hands free-ECU.
Replace the radio and CD player <vehicles with radio and CD player> or multivision display <vehicles with MMCS>.
