Code No.B1E14 Low Beam Lamp(LH) Overload or Short Circuit

cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
Diagnosis code No. B1E14 will be set when the headlamp (Low-beam) (LH) control circuit fails.

JUDGEMENT CRITERIA
Diagnosis code No. B1E14 will be set if the ETACS-ECU detects a short between itself and the headlamp (Low-beam) (LH).

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of the headlamp (Low-beam) (LH) bulb
  • Malfunction of the headlamp (Low-beam) (LH) assembly
  • Headlamp (Low-beam) (LH) control circuit fails
  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Bulb check <Vehicles with halogen headlamp>
Check whether the headlamp (Low-beam) (LH) bulb of a correct rated voltage (55 W) is installed.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Replace it with one of correct raged voltage.

STEP 2. Check of short to power supply circuit in HLOL line between the headlamp assembly (LH) connector and ETACS-ECU connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 3. Check of short to earth circuit in earth line between the headlamp assembly (LH) connector and body earth.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.
Check again if the diagnosis code No.B1E14 is set in the ETACS-ECU.
(1) Erase the diagnosis code.
(2) Turn on the headlamp (Low-beam).
(3) Check the diagnosis code No.B1E14 is set.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Go to Step 5.
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

STEP 5. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.
Check again if the diagnosis code No.B1E14 is set in the ETACS-ECU.
(1) Erase the diagnosis code.
(2) Disconnect the headlamp assembly (LH) connector.
(3) Turn on the headlamp (Low-beam).
(4) Check the diagnosis code No.B1E14 is set.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Replace the ETACS-ECU.
Replace a headlamp (LH).
