Inspection Procedure 8: Does not switch to the setting screen. <Vehicles with MMCS>
 
 
cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
 
 
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If it does not switch to the setting screen, there may be some malfunction in the HUD or HUD switch, or some abnormality in the meter system.
noteBefore starting this troubleshooting, confirm that the "Turn-by-Turn status" of the ETACS coding item is at "Present."
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • HUD malfunction
  • Malfunction of the HUD switch (Combiner open/close switch: Stuck in ON/OFF)
  • Meter system abnormality (the parking brake or vehicle speed signal)
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
 
 
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. M.U.T.-IIISE data list
Check the input signal of the combiner open/close switch by using the service data of the HUD.
  • When the combiner open/close switch is operated.

OK: Normal conditions are displayed for all the items.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Refer to Inspection Procedure 2 "Combiner does not work, open or close normally even if the combiner open/close switch is operated" .
 
STEP 2. Combination meter display check
Perform the following inspections to check whether the meter system is normal.
(1) Check whether the brake warning lamp lights normally.
OK: Lights when the parking brake is activated.
(2) Drive and stop the vehicle to check whether the speedometer is normal.
OK: Displays the speed according to driving and stopping.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Troubleshoot the combination meter. Refer to .
 
STEP 3. Retest the system
Check whether to switch to the setting screen.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the HUD.
