Inspection Procedure 4: The heated windshield stays on.
 
 
cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
 
 
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
When the heated windshield stays on although the heated windshield switch is turned off, the heated windshield relay or the A/C controller assembly may be defective.
noteWhen the engine is not running, the heated windshield does not work.
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of heated windshield relay
  • Malfunction of A/C controller assembly
  • Wiring harness or connector failure
 
 
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Check the heated windshield relay 1 and 2
Check that the heated windshield relay 1 and 2 works normally (Refer to ).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the heated windshield relay 1 or 2 concerned.
 
STEP 2. Check the HWS1 wires between heated windshield relay 1 and A/C controller assembly connector(s) for short to earth.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 3. Check the HWS2 wires between heated windshield relay 2 and A/C controller assembly connector(s) for short to earth.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 4. Check the output wires between heated windshield relay 1 and heated windshield connector(s) for short to power supply.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 5. Check the output wires between heated windshield relay 2 and heated windshield connector(s) for short to power supply.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 6.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 6. Check the heated windshield.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the A/C controller assembly (Refer to GROUP 55 - A/C Control Unit ).
