DRIVELINE

Rear Driveshaft and U-Joints

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Raise and support the vehicle with jackstands.
  2. Position a drain pan under the rear of the transaxle, to catch the excess oil from the transaxle; plug the transaxle opening (if necessary).
  3. Remove the driveshaft flange-to-rear differential flange bolts and separate the driveshaft from the differential flange.
  4. While supporting the rear of the driveshaft, gently pull it rearward to remove it from the vehicle.
  5. To install, reverse the above process. Tighten the center bearing-to-chassis bolts to 25–33 ft. lb. (33–44 Nm) and the driveshaft-to-rear differential flange bolts to 13–20 ft. lbs. (17–27 Nm) Check and/or refill the transaxle.
