Proportioning Valve

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Remove the brake pipes from the proportioning valve.
  2. Remove the proportioning valve from its bracket.

    WARNING
    Do not attempt to disassemble or adjust the proportioning valve. If defective, the valve must be replaced as a unit.

    To install:

  3. Make sure that the brake pipes are properly connected to the proportioning valve after installation.
  4. Tighten the brake pipe flare nut 9–13 ft. lbs. (12–17 Nm), tighten the proportioning valve to bracket 14–21 ft. lbs. (18–28 Nm)
  5. Bleed the system of air, then check each joint or brake pipe for leaks.
