CAUTION
Use extreme care if removing a sender from a vehicle which has been driven recently.
The coolant could be extremely hot.
The thermosensor is located to the left of the thermometer on the intake manifold.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Access the thermosensor on the intake manifold, and unfasten the wire harness
attached.
- Loosen the draincock at the lower portion of the radiator, and drain enough
coolant into a suitable container to bring the level below the thermosensor.
- Loosen and remove the thermosensor. Inspect the threads of the manifold,
and use a thread chaser to restore the threads if damaged.
- If reinstalling original thermosensor, remove sealing gasket and replace
with a new one.
- Installation is the reverse of removal. Pay close attention to the following:
- Use a new sealing gasket into hole in manifold, and hand-tighten. Using
an appropriate socket, tighten the thermosensor to 2–3 ft. lbs.
(3–4 Nm).
- Fill the cooling system with coolant and bleed.
