- Raise and support the rear of the vehicle safely on jackstands.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
- Matchmark and remove the brake drum.
- Remove the brake shoes, springs and other components, and place them on
a flat surface. It is a good idea to organize the parts in a pattern to reflect
their final installation.
- Disconnect the inlet tube line from the back of the wheel cylinder. Immediately
plug or cap the line to prevent system contamination or excessive fluid loss.
- Remove the wheel cylinder assembly.
- Remove the retainer bolts securing the backing plate to the rear trailing
arm assembly.
- Installation is the reverse of removal. Secure all components to specifications.
- Bleed the brake system.
