Rear Main Seal

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
2. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Engine from the vehicle.
   • Clutch assembly/flywheel using the Clutch Disc Guide tool 499747000, if equipped with a manual transmission
   • Torque converter flexplate from the crankshaft, if equipped with an automatic transmission
   • Oil seal from the cylinder block using a small prybar

   To install:

3. Install or connect the following:
   • New oil seal by pressing it into the cylinder block using the appropriate driver
   • Flywheel housing using new gaskets and sealant where necessary.
   • Flywheel and tighten the bolts to 50-54 ft. lbs. (69-75 Nm).
