Removal & Installation

CAUTION
If a fuel tank filler cap requires replacement, use only a fuel tank filler cap with the same features. Failure to use the correct fuel tank filler cap can result in a

serious malfunction of the fuel and EVAP system.

WARNING
Check the EVAP canister for loose carbon before returning the vehicle to service. The EVAP canister may have released carbon particles which caused this part to fail and may cause damage to other components.

To Remove:

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
2. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Battery ground cable
   • Connector and hoses from purge control solenoid
   • Purge solenoid valve

To Install:

1. Install or connect the following:
   • Canister purge solenoid valve with the bolt
     1. Torque to: 11.6 ft. lbs. (16 Nm)
   • Purge solenoid valve connectors and hoses
   • Battery ground cable
