Fuel Injector(s)

Removal & Installation

2.0L DOHC Engine and 2.5L DOHC Engine

Right Side

To Remove:

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
2. Release fuel system pressure.
3. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Fuel cap
   • Battery ground cable
   • Intake manifold (2.0L Engine)
   • Right fuel pipe protector
   • Fuel injector connector
   • Fuel injector

To Install:

Note: Replace O-Rings and insulators with new ones.

1. Install or connect the following:
   • Fuel injector
   • Fuel injector connector
   • Right fuel pipe protector
     1. Torque to: 13.7 ft. lbs. (19 Nm)
   • Intake manifold (2.0L Engine)
   • Battery ground cable

Left Side

To Remove:

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
2. Release fuel system pressure.
3. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Battery ground cable
   • Intake manifold
   • Left fuel pipe protector (2.0L Engine)
   • Fuel injector connector
   • Bolts connecting injector pipe to intake manifold (2.0L Engine)
   • Fuel injector

To Install:

Note: Replace O-Rings and insulators with new ones.

1. Install or connect the following:
   • Fuel Injector
   • Bolts connecting injector pipe to intake manifold (2.0L Engine)
     1. Torque to: 13.7 ft. lbs. (19 Nm)
   • Fuel injector connector
   • Left fuel pipe protector (2.0L Engine)
     1. Torque to: 13.7 ft. lbs. (19 Nm)
   • Intake manifold
   • Battery ground cable

2.5L SOHC Engine

Right Side

To Remove:

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
2. Release fuel pressure.
3. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Fuel cap
   • Battery ground cable
   • Resonator chamber
   • Spark plug wires from spark plugs (#1 and #3 cylinders)
   • Front v-belt
   • Bolts connecting power steering lines to intake manifold protector
   • Bolts connecting power steering pump to bracket
   • Power steering pump switch connector
   • Power steering pump and tank from brackets and set aside
   • Right fuel pipe protector
   • Fuel injector connector
   • Injector pipe to intake manifold bolts
   • Fuel injector from intake manifold

To Install:

1. Install or connect the following:
   • Fuel injector
   • Fuel injector securing clip
   • Fuel injector to intake manifold
   • Injector pipe to intake manifold bolts
     1. Torque to: 13.7 ft. lbs. (19 Nm)
   • Fuel injector connector
   • Fuel pipe protector
     1. Torque to: 13.7 ft. lbs. (19 Nm)
   • Power steering tank, pump and bracket
   • Front v-belt
   • Spark plug wires to spark plugs (#1 and #3 cylinders)
   • Resonator chamber
   • Battery ground cable
   • Fuel cap

Left Side

To Remove:

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
2. Release fuel pressure.
3. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Fuel cap
   • Battery ground cable
   • Front and rear washer motor connectors
   • Rear washer motor hose and plug it
   • Washer tank and move aside
   • Spark plug wires from spark plugs (# 2 and # 4 cylinders)
   • Left fuel pipe protector
   • Fuel injector connector
   • Injector pipe to intake manifold bolt
   • Fuel pipe on the left side intake manifold bolt
   • Fuel injector from intake manifold

To Install:

Note: Replace 0-rings with new ones.

1. Install or connect the following:
   • Fuel injector
   • Fuel injector securing clip
   • Fuel injector to intake manifold
   • Fuel pipe on the left side intake manifold bolt
     1. Torque to: 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm)
   • Injector pipe to intake manifold bolts
     1. Torque to: 13.7 ft. lbs. (19 Nm)
   • Fuel injector connector
   • Fuel pipe protector
     1. Torque to: 13.7 ft. lbs. (19 Nm)
   • Spark plug wires to spark plugs (# 2 and # 4 cylinders)
   • Washer tank
   • Rear washer motor hose
   • Front and rear washer motor connectors
   • Fuel cap
   • Battery ground cable
