Accelerator Pedal Assembly (Incorporating APP Sensor) Removal and Installation

Reference: APP Sensor On-Vehicle Inspection:M16A

NOTICE:

Failure to take proper precautions when handling the APP sensor assembly may lead to malfunction of the APP sensor.

•Do not drop or otherwise expose the APP sensor assembly to large shock. Any APP sensor assembly that has received large shock must be replaced.
•Keep the sensor section of the APP sensor assembly away from water.

NOTE:

After replacing accelerator pedal assembly (incorporating APP sensor), calibrate throttle valve position.

Removal

1)Disconnect negative (–) cable at battery.

2)Disconnect connector from accelerator pedal assembly (incorporating APP sensor).

3)Remove accelerator pedal assembly.

4)LHD model, remove steering joint cover, if necessary.

5)LHD model, remove accelerator pedal assembly bracket, if necessary.

Installation

Reference: APP Sensor Inspection:M16A

Reverse removal procedure noting the following point.

•Tighten accelerator pedal assembly nuts (1) and accelerator pedal assembly bracket nuts (2) to specified torques.

Tightening torque

Accelerator pedal assembly nut (a): 5.5 N·m (0.56 kgf-m, 4.0 lbf-ft)
Accelerator pedal assembly bracket nut (b): 13 N·m (1.3 kgf-m, 9.5 lbf-ft)
