Fuel System Description
Precautions: Precautions for Fuel System Service · General safety (00)
Low-Pressure Fuel Supply Circuit
The fuel pump in the fuel tank (1) pumps fuel into the high pressure fuel supply circuit through the fuel filter (2) and the fuel heater (3).
The fuel pump assembly (5) is composed of a fuel pump (4), a fuel suction filter (6) and a fuel level gauge (7). The fuel pump is an electric pump.
High-Pressure Fuel Supply Circuit
The high pressure pump (8) driven by the engine boosts pressure of low pressure fuel to create high pressure fuel. The high pressure fuel is supplied to the common rail (9) through the high pressure fuel pipe. The injectors (10) atomize the fuel to charge the cylinders.
The fuel flow actuator (11) located on the high pressure pump regulates the quantity of fuel to the high pressure pump according to ECM signal to control the fuel pressure in the common rail.
