Precautions for Handling of Rear Shock Absorber

Precautions: Precautions for Suspension · General safety (00)

WARNING:
Since a high-pressure gas is sealed inside each rear shock absorber (1), there is a risk of personal injury if you do not take proper precautions when handling them.
•Do not disassemble any shock absorber.
•Do not put it into fire.
•Do not store a shock absorber where it gets hot.
•Before disposing of a shock absorber, drill an approximately 3 mm (0.12 in.) diameter hole (2) in it at the point indicated in the figure and let the gas and oil out of the cylinder.
•Wear eye protector when drilling a gas release hole. Although the gas itself is harmless, metal chips produced by the drilling can injure your eyes.
