4WD Control System Description

•4WD control system consists of 4WD control module, rear drive coupling unit, driving mode switch, rear drive coupling air temperature sensor and transfer oil temperature sensor, and the 4WD control module controls the distribution of driving force for front and rear wheels communicating with ECM, TCM (A/T model or twin clutch system model), BCM and ESP® control module, etc. via CAN communication line.
•4WD control system has four driving modes (AUTO, SPORT, SNOW and LOCK) and the mode can be selected by operation of driving mode switch. The driving mode switch signal is inputted to BCM and transmitted to each control module via CAN communication.
•4WD control module judges the road and driving conditions according to information obtained from each sensor and control module.
4WD control module changes the distribution of driving force of front and rear wheels by controlling the electric current supplied to the rear drive coupling unit.
