Passenger Airbag ON/OFF Indicator Circuit Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The passenger airbag ON / OFF indicator circuit consists of the center airbag sensor and passenger airbag ON / OFF indicator. This circuit indicates the operation condition of the front passenger airbag, front seat side airbag RH and front seat outer belt RH.

DTC B1152/28 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the passenger airbag ON / OFF indicator circuit.

When one of following conditions is met:

  • The center airbag sensor receives a line short signal, open signal, short to ground signal or B+ short signal in the passenger airbag ON / OFF indicator circuit for 2 seconds.
  • Passenger airbag ON / OFF indicator malfunction
  • Center airbag sensor malfunction
  • Center cluster integration panel*1 (Passenger airbag ON / OFF indicator)
  • Air conditioning control assembly*2 (Passenger airbag ON / OFF indicator)
  • Center airbag sensor assembly
  • Instrument panel wire

1.

CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON / OFF INDICATOR OPERATION

(a) Turn the ignition switch ON.

(b) Check the passenger airbag ON / OFF indicator operation.

HINT:

Refer to the normal condition of the passenger airbag ON / OFF indicator 2006 MY Land Cruiser [05/2005 -        ]; SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .

CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR

(a) Turn the ignition switch OFF.

(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and the air conditioning control or center cluster integration panel.

OK:

The connectors are connected.

CHECK CONNECTOR

(a) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and the air conditioning control or center cluster integration panel.

(b) Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor side and the air conditioning control side or center cluster integration panel side) are not damaged.

OK:

The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

REPAIR OR REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE

4.

CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON / OFF INDICATOR

(a) Connect the connector to the air conditioning control or center cluster integration panel.

(b) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(c) Turn the ignition switch ON.

(d) Check the passenger airbag ON / OFF indicator operation.

OK:

The passenger airbag ON / OFF indicator ("ON" and "OFF") does not come on.

5.

CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Turn the ignition switch OFF.

(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor.

(d) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(e) Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(f) Clear the DTCs stored in memory 2006 MY Land Cruiser [05/2005 -        ]; SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

(g) Turn the ignition switch OFF.

(h) Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(i) Check the DTCs 2006 MY Land Cruiser [05/2005 -        ]; SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

OK:

DTC B1152/28 is not output.

CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON / OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (OPEN)

(a) Turn the ignition switch OFF.

(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Disconnect the connector from the air conditioning control.

(d) Using a service wire, connect terminals C26-1 (P-AB) and C26-25 (PAON) of connector "B".

(e) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

(e) Turn the ignition switch ON.

(f) Check the passenger airbag ON / OFF indicator condition.
