ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
1. CHECK SPEEDOMETER
(a) Check operation.
(1) Using a speedometer tester, check that the speedometer reading is within the allowable range shown in the table below. Also, check for proper operation of the odometer.

- If the result is not as specified, the speedometer may have a malfunction.
2. CHECK SPEEDOMETER
(a) While driving the vehicle at the speed of 10 km/h (6 mph), check the voltage between the terminals of the combination meter assembly.
Standard voltage:
Fluctuation between 10 to 14 V or less is repeated 7 times within 1 second.
3. CHECK TACHOMETER
(a) Check operation.
(1) Connect a tune-up test tachometer, and start the engine.
NOTICE:
- Do not reverse the connections of the tachometer. This will damage its transistors and diodes.
- When removing or installing the tachometer, be careful not to drop or strike it.
(2) Compare the tester tachometer values and vehicle tachometer values under the following conditions:
- Vehicle battery voltage is 13.5 V
- Ambient temperature is 25°C (77°F)

- If the result is not specified, the tachometer may have a malfunction.
4. CHECK LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT
(a) Disconnect the connector from the low oil pressure switch.
(b) Turn the ignition switch ON.
(c) Connect the terminal of wire harness side connector and ground, then check the warning light.
OK:
Warning light turns on.
5. CHECK PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHT
(a) Disconnect the connector from the parking brake switch and ground terminal on the wire harness side connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch ON and check that the warning light lights up.
6. CHECK BRAKE WARNING LIGHT
(a) Disconnect the connector from the brake fluid level warning switch and ground terminal on the wire harness side connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch ON and check that the warning light lights up.
7. CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WARNING SWITCH
(a) Remove the reservoir tank cap and retainer.
(b) Disconnect the connector.
(c) Check that the continuity exists between the terminal.
(d) Use siphon, etc., to take fluid out of the reservoir tank.
(e) Check that the continuity exists between terminals.
(f) Pour the fluid back in the reservoir tank.
8. CHECK OPEN DOOR WARNING LIGHT
(a) Disconnect the connector from the driver door courtesy switch and ground terminal on the wire harness side connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch ON and check that the warning light lights up.
9. CHECK SEAT BELT WARNING BUZZER
(a) Disconnect the C13, C14 and C15 meter connectors.
(b) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery terminal C13-12 and negative (-) lead from terminal C15-16.
(c) Check that the buzzer stops after 4 to 8 seconds.
(d) Check that the buzzer stops when connecting the terminal C14-11 to the GND.
OK:
Buzzer sound stops.
10. CHECK KEY UNLOCK WARNING BUZZER
(a) Disconnect the C13 and C15 meter connectors.
(b) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery terminal C13-12 and negative (-) lead from terminal C15-16.
(c) Connect the negative (-) lead from the battery terminal C15-9 and C15-10, check that the buzzer sounds.
OK:
Buzzer sounds.
11. CHECK SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT
(a) Disconnect the B5 switch connector.
(b) Connect the B5-2 terminal of the wire harness side connector to the body ground.
(c) Turn the ignition switch ON, and check that the warning light turns on.
OK:
Warning light turns on.
