B1959-POWER LIFTGATE DRIVE CLUTCH CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH

Possible Causes
 
(Q201) LIFTGATE CLUTCH DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE
 
(Q201) LIFTGATE CLUTCH DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN
 
(Z800) GROUND OPEN
 
POWER LIFTGATE DRIVE UNIT
 
POWER LIFTGATE MODULE
 




Diagnostic Test

1. DTC PRESENT

With the scan tool, record DTCs and any liftgate inhibitors.
Erase DTCs.
Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
Operate the liftgate several times.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display B1959–POWER LIFTGATE DRIVE CLUTCH CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH?

Yes


No

2. (Q201) LIFTGATE CLUTCH DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE



Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Power Liftgate Module C1 harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the (Q201) Liftgate Clutch Driver circuit between the Power Liftgate C1 harness connector and ground.

Is there any voltage present?

No


Yes

3. (Q201) LIFTGATE CLUTCH DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN



Disconnect the Power Liftgate Drive Unit connector
Measure the resistance of the (Q201) Liftgate Clutch Driver circuit between the Power Liftgate C1 harness connector and the Power Liftgate Drive Unit harness connector.

Is the resistance below 2.0 ohms?

Yes


No

4. CHECK THE (Z800) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN



Measure the resistance between ground and the (Z800) Ground circuit in Power Liftgate Drive Unit connector.

Is the resistance below 2.0 ohms?

Yes


No
