INSTALLATION
FRONT
WARNING: To avoid personal injury or death, on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the supplemental restraint system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the supplemental restraint system. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.
WARNING: To avoid personal injury or death, during and following any seat belt or child restraint anchor service, carefully inspect all seat belts, buckles, mounting hardware, retractors, tether straps, and anchors for proper installation, operation, or damage. Replace any belt that is cut, frayed, or torn. Straighten any belt that is twisted. Tighten any loose fasteners. Replace any belt that has a damaged or ineffective buckle or retractor. Replace any belt that has a bent or damaged latch plate or anchor plate. Replace any child restraint anchor or the unit to which the anchor is integral that has been bent or damaged. Never attempt to repair a seat belt or child restraint component. Always replace damaged or ineffective seat belt and child restraint components with the correct, new and unused replacement parts listed in the DaimlerChrysler Mopar® Parts Catalog.
NOTE: The following procedure is for replacement of an ineffective or damaged seat belt buckle unit. The front seat belt buckle also includes a seat belt tensioner. If the front seat belt buckle is ineffective or damaged, but the seat belt tensioner is not deployed, review the recommended procedures for handling non-deployed supplemental restraints. (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/RESTRAINTS - STANDARD PROCEDURE - HANDLING NON-DEPLOYED SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINTS). If the seat belt tensioner has been deployed, review the recommended procedures for service after a supplemental restraint deployment before removing the unit from the vehicle. (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/RESTRAINTS - STANDARD PROCEDURE - SERVICE AFTER A SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT DEPLOYMENT).
1. Position the front seat belt buckle and tensioner (1) lower anchor onto the stud on the inboard side of the seat cushion frame.
2. Install and tighten the nut that secures the front seat belt buckle lower anchor to the side of the front seat. Tighten the nut to 43 N·m (32 ft. lbs.).
3. On the driver side only, reconnect the seat belt switch pigtail wire connector (3) to the seat wire harness connector for the seat belt switch.
4. Reconnect the seat wire harness connector (2) to the seat belt tensioner initiator.
5. Reinstall the side shield onto the inboard side of the front seat cushion. (Refer to 23 - BODY/SEATS/SEAT BACK CUSHION/COVER - INSTALLATION).
6. Reinstall the console onto the floor panel transmission tunnel. (Refer to 23 - BODY/INTERIOR/FLOOR CONSOLE - INSTALLATION).
7. Do not reconnect the battery negative cable at this time. The supplemental restraint system verification test procedure should be performed following service of any supplemental restraint system component. (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/RESTRAINTS - STANDARD PROCEDURE - VERIFICATION TEST).
SECOND ROW - CENTER AND LEFT
WARNING: To avoid personal injury or death, during and following any seat belt or child restraint anchor service, carefully inspect all seat belts, buckles, mounting hardware, retractors, tether straps, and anchors for proper installation, operation, or damage. Replace any belt that is cut, frayed, or torn. Straighten any belt that is twisted. Tighten any loose fasteners. Replace any belt that has a damaged or ineffective buckle or retractor. Replace any belt that has a bent or damaged latch plate or anchor plate. Replace any child restraint anchor or the unit to which the anchor is integral that has been bent or damaged. Never attempt to repair a seat belt or child restraint component. 1. Engage the front of the buckle anchor plate (3) under the tabs (5) at the front of the left center seat support bracket (2) and position the anchor plate and both buckles from to the outboard side of the seat support bracket as a unit.
2. Install and tighten the screw (4) that secures the anchor plate and buckles to the left center seat support bracket. Tighten the screw to 50 N·m (37 ft. lbs.).
3. Install and tighten the nut (1) onto the stud (6) that secures the front of the buckle anchor bracket and the left center seat support bracket to the rear floor panel. Tighten the nut to 50 N·m (37 ft. lbs.).
4. Engage the center seat belt buckle through the elastic loop (3) on the center seat cushion trim.
5. Restore the second row left outboard seat to its seating position.
SECOND ROW - RIGHT
WARNING: To avoid personal injury or death, during and following any seat belt or child restraint anchor service, carefully inspect all seat belts, buckles, mounting hardware, retractors, tether straps, and anchors for proper installation, operation, or damage. Replace any belt that is cut, frayed, or torn. Straighten any belt that is twisted. Tighten any loose fasteners. Replace any belt that has a damaged or ineffective buckle or retractor. Replace any belt that has a bent or damaged latch plate or anchor plate. Replace any child restraint anchor or the unit to which the anchor is integral that has been bent or damaged. Never attempt to repair a seat belt or child restraint component. Always replace damaged or ineffective seat belt and child restraint components with the correct, new and unused replacement parts listed in the DaimlerChrysler Mopar® Parts Catalog.
1. Position the second row outboard right buckle (1) and anchor plate to the right center seat support bracket as a unit and loosely install the upper screw (3) to secure the anchor plate to the bracket.
2. Position the second row center seat belt lower anchor (2) over the lower mounting hole in the buckle anchor plate.
3. Install and tighten the screw (3) that secures the seat belt lower anchor and the buckle anchor to the right center seat support bracket. Tighten the screw to 50 N·m (37 ft. lbs.).
4. Tighten the upper screw that secures the buckle anchor to the right center seat support bracket. Tighten the screw to 50 N·m (37 ft. lbs.).
5. Position the right center seat support bracket outer trim (5) and the striker trim (4) to the seat and the striker as a unit.
6. Using hand pressure, snap the outer bracket trim onto the inner trim.
7. Install and tighten the two screws (1) that secure the striker trim to the striker bracket. Tighten the screws to 3 N·m (28 in. lbs.).
8. Restore the second row right outboard seat to its seating position.
THIRD ROW

Replace any belt that is cut, frayed, or torn. Straighten any belt that is twisted. Tighten any loose fasteners. Replace any belt that has a damaged or ineffective buckle or retractor. Replace any belt that has a bent or damaged latch plate or anchor plate. Replace any child restraint anchor or the unit to which the anchor is integral that has been bent or damaged. Never attempt to repair a seat belt or child restraint component. Always replace damaged or ineffective seat belt and child restraint components with the correct, new and unused replacement parts listed in the DaimlerChrysler Mopar® Parts Catalog.
NOTE: The metal grommet (1) is used as an assembly aid during the production process and does not require replacement following service removal or replacement of the third row seat belt buckles.
1. Position the third row seat assembly into the vehicle as a unit.
2. Position the third row buckles (3) and anchor plate (4) to the third row seat support bracket (5). Be certain that the anti-rotation notch on the anchor plate is engaged with the tab (2) on the seat support bracket.
3. Reinstall the hardware that secures the third row seat assembly and the buckle anchor plate to the vehicle. (Refer to 23 - BODY/SEATS/SEAT - THIRD ROW - INSTALLATION).
