SPEAKER

DESCRIPTION

The standard equipment speaker system includes four full-range speakers. The two front speakers are mounted behind a removable bezel located on each outboard end of the lower instrument panel. With the premium speaker system, the standard front speakers are replace with an enclosure assembly that includes a 4 inch speaker and a 1 inch tweeter. The two rear speakers are mounted behind a grille located on each outboard end of the sport bar, above the rear seating area of the vehicle.

OPERATION

Two wires connected to each speaker, one feed circuit (+) and one return circuit (–), allow the audio output signal electrical current to flow through the speaker voice coil.

REMOVAL

WARNING: On vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment and possible personal injury.

TWEETER




1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the mounting fastener.
3. Remove the tweeter (1).
4. Disconnect the electrical connector.

INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER – DRIVER


1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the instrument panel end cap.
3. Remove the steering column opening cover.
4. Remove the amplifier. Refer to
(Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/AUDIO/AMPLIFIER - REMOVAL).


5. Disconnect the electrical connector.
6. Remove the mounting fasteners in the left side of the instrument panel.
7. Remove the speaker mounting fasteners.
8. Remove the speaker (2) by carefully pulling the left side of the instrument panel outward until there is sufficient room to remove the speaker through the end cap area.

INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER – PASSENGER


1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the glove box.
3. Remove the instrument panel end cap.
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
5. Remove the speaker mounting fasteners.
6. Remove the speaker.

SOUND BAR




1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the mounting fasteners and remove the speaker cover grille.
3. Remove the speaker.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector.

SUBWOOFER




1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the mounting fasteners and remover the speaker cover grille.
3. Remove the speaker.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector.

INSTALLATION

TWEETER




1. Connect the electrical connector.
2. Install the tweeter (1).
3. Install the mounting fastener.
4. Connect the battery negative cable.

INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER – DRIVER




1. Install the speaker (2).
2. Install the speaker mounting fasteners.
3. Connect the electrical connector.
4. Install the instrument panel mounting fasteners.
5. Install the amplifier. Refer to
(Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/AUDIO/AMPLIFIER - INSTALLATION).
6. Install the steering column opening cover.
7. Install the instrument panel end cap.
8. Connect the battery negative cable.

INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER – PASSENGER


1. Install the speaker.
2. Install the mounting fasteners.
3. Connect the electrical connectors.
4. Install the glove box.
5. Install the instrument panel end cap.
6. Connect the battery negative cable.

SOUND BAR




1. Connect the electrical connector.
2. Install the speaker.
3. Install the mounting fasteners.
4. Connect the battery negative cable.

SUBWOOFER




1. Install the subwoofer.
2. Connect the electrical connector.
3. Install the mounting fasteners.
4. Connect the battery negative cable.
