VALVE - EGR 3.8L

REMOVAL



The EGR valve and solenoid assembly (1) is attached to the rear of the right cylinder head.



A metal gasket (2) is used between the EGR valve/solenoid assembly, and the right cylinder head.



A metal tube (1) connects the EGR valve/solenoid assembly to the intake manifold.


1. Remove the upper (plastic) half of the intake manifold.



2. Disconnect electrical connector (2) at EGR valve.



3. Remove tube mounting bolt (2).



4. Remove two tube mounting bolts (1) at EGR valve end of tube.
5. Remove and discard gasket (5) and O-ring (3).



6. Remove two EGR valve mounting bolts (3).
7. Discard gasket (2).

INSTALLATION




1. Clean gasket mounting area at rear of cylinder head and EGR valve.
2. Install new gasket (2).
3. Position EGR valve (1) to rear of cylinder head and install two EGR valve mounting bolts (3).



4. Clean gasket mounting areas at both ends of EGR tube.
5. Install new gasket (5) and new O-ring (3) to EGR tube.
6. Install two tube mounting bolts (1) at EGR valve end of tube.



7. Install tube mounting bolt (2).



8. Connect electrical connector (2) to EGR valve.



9. Install the upper (plastic) half of the intake manifold.

Install two tube flange bolts (2) at intake manifold.
