SENSOR, Differential Pressure

DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION


The Exhaust Differential Pressure Sensor (3) is remotely mounted on the transmission housing. Two pressure tubes (4) measure pressure before and after the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)/Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC). The sensor is critical for fail-safe of regeneration strategy, because it interprets high pressure drops as possible high soot loads.

REMOVAL

REMOVAL


  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  2. Raise and support vehicle (Refer to 04 - Vehicle Quick Reference/Hoisting - Standard Procedure) .

  3. Remove the diesel particulate filter (Refer to 11 - Exhaust System/FILTER, Diesel Particulate - Removal) .

  4. If necessary, remove the mounting nut securing the differential pressure sensor to the steady rest mount.

  5. Disconnect the differential pressure sensor harness connector (1).

  6. Remove nut (2) and the differential pressure sensor (3).

INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION


  1. Install the differential pressure sensor (3). Tighten nut (2) to 11 N·m (97 in. lbs.).

  2. Connect the differential pressure sensor wire harness connector (1).

  3. If necessary, install the mounting nut securing the differential pressure sensor to the steady rest mount and tighten to 11 N·m (97 in. lbs.).

    NOTE:

    Before installing, inspect both pressure hoses (4) and make sure there is not any dip across the hoses. In cases where water is frozen, a dip across the hoses can cause condensation which can set a MIL.

  4. Install the diesel particulate filter (Refer to 11 - Exhaust System/FILTER, Diesel Particulate - Installation) .

  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
