P0069-MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE / BAROMETRIC PRESSURE CORRELATION
P0069-MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE / BAROMETRIC PRESSURE CORRELATION
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.
Theory of Operation
The Barometric/Atmospheric Pressure Sensor is calculated from the Inlet Pressure Sensor Signal. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) compares the signal of the Inlet Pressure Sensor to the signal of the Boost Pressure Sensor during key on, engine off and during after-run mode to determine the plausibility of these sensors.
-
When Monitored:
With the ignition on. There are no Sensor Reference Voltage DTCs. There are no other Boost Pressure related DTCs. There are no BARO Pressure Sensor DTCs.
-
Set Condition:
The PCM detects a plausibility error between the Boost Pressure Sensor Signal and the BARO Pressure Sensor Signal for 6.0 seconds.

Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure).
| 1. | Ignition on, engine not running. |
| 2. | With the scan tool, select View DTCs. |
Is the status Active for this DTC?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT DTC diagnostic procedure. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure).
2. CHECK THE BOOST PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
| 1. | Turn the ignition off. |
| 2. | Disconnect the Boost Pressure/Intake Air Temperature Sensor harness connector. |
| 3. | Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector. |
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms for each measurement?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the circuit that measured above 5.0 Ohms for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure).
| 1. | Reconnect the PCM C1 harness connector. |
| 2. | Replace the Boost Pressure/Intake Air Temperature Sensor in accordance with the service information. |
| 3. | Turn the ignition on. |
| 4. | With the scan tool, erase DTCs. |
| 5. | Turn the ignition off for 30 seconds. |
| 6. | Turn the ignition on. |
| 7. | With the scan tool, view DTCs. |
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair complete.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure).
| 1. | Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors between the Boost Pressure Actuator and the Powertrain Control Module. |
| 2. | Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires. |
| 3. | Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals. |
| 4. | Perform any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply. |
