P0219-ENGINE OVERSPEED CONDITION

When Monitored:
With the engine running.

Set Condition:
The Crank Position Sensor (CKP) indicates engine speed is at or above 4800 RPM. NOTE: Engine damage is possible when the engine speed exceeds 4800 RPM.

Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure).
CHECK FOR ACTIVE DTC
| 1. | Turn the ignition off. |
| 2. | Check the CKP Sensor wiring between the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and CKP Sensor harness connectors for poor terminal contact, corrosion or other problems that may cause erratic CKP Sensor signals. |
| 3. | Check the CKP Sensor for damage and proper mounting. |
Were there any signs of damage?
Yes
- Repair or replace as necessary. Use the service information to check for engine mechanical problems that may have occurred due to excessive engine speed.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure).
