P061F-INTERNAL CONTROL MODULE THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROLLER PERFORMANCE

When Monitored:
With the ignition on.

Set Condition:
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects that the EGR Air Flow Control Valve is stuck open or closed for 2.0 seconds.
Possible Causes |

Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure).
1. CHECK THE EGR AIR FLOW CONTROL VALVE OPERATION
| NOTE: | If there are any other EGR Air Flow Control circuit DTCs present, diagnose those DTCs before proceeding with this diagnostic procedure. |
| 1. | Disconnect the air tube at the inlet port of the EGR Air Flow Control Valve. |
| 2. | Use a mirror to observe the motion of the EGR Air Flow Control Valve. |
| 3. | Turn the ignition on. |
| 4. | The EGR Air Flow Control Valve should open completely without binding with the ignition on. |
| 5. | Turn the ignition off. |
| 6. | The EGR Air Flow Control Valve should close completely without binding with the ignition off. |
| NOTE: | Cycle the ignition on and off several times while observing the operation of the valve. |
Did the EGR Air Flow Control Valve operate correctly and without binding?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Replace the EGR Air Flow Control Valve in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure).
2. CHECKING THE PCM POWER AND GROUND CIRCUITS
| 1. | Perform the diagnostic procedure for CHECKING THE PCM POWER AND GROUND CIRCUITS. (Refer to 29 - Non-DTC Diagnostics/Drivability - Diesel - Diagnosis and Testing) . |
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair the PCM power and ground circuit(s) as necessary.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure).
No
- Go To 3
| 1. | Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the Powertrain Control Module wiring and connectors. |
| 2. | Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires. |
| 3. | Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals. |
| 4. | Perform any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply. |
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure).
No
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure).
