P062A-FUEL PUMP "A" CONTROL CIRCUIT RANGE/PERFORMANCE

P062A-FUEL PUMP "A" CONTROL CIRCUIT RANGE/PERFORMANCE

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

Theory of Operation

When the ignition switch is on, the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) sends a 12 Volt signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) on the Fuel Pump Relay Control circuit. The PCM grounds this signal to indicate a request for Fuel Pump operation.

Possible Causes

HIGH RESISTANCE IN THE (K31) FUEL PUMP RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT
TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM)

Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure).

1. DTC IS ACTIVE

1. Ignition on, engine not running.
2. With the scan tool, clear DTCs in the PCM.
3. Monitor the scan tool for at least two minutes.
4. With the scan tool, select View DTCs.

Is the status Active for this DTC?

Yes

No

2. CHECK THE (K31) FUEL PUMP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE

1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Remove the jumper wire and install the ASD Relay.
3. Measure the resistance of the (K31) Fuel Pump Control circuit between the TIPM harness connector and the PCM C2 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

Yes

No
