THROTTLE BODY

DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION

The throttle body is located on the intake manifold. Fuel does not enter the intake manifold through the throttle body. Fuel is sprayed into the manifold by the fuel injectors.

REMOVAL

REMOVAL

CAUTION:

Never have the ignition key in the ON position when checking the throttle body shaft for a binding condition. This may set DTC's.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

  2. Remove the engine cover (1).

    3.  
  3. Remove the air cleaner body (1) (Refer to 09 - Engine/Air Intake System/BODY, Air Cleaner - Removal) .

  4. Disconnect the electrical connector (3) from the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) (1) and disengage the ETC harness from the clip (2) on the throttle body.

  5. Remove four throttle body mounting bolts (4).

  6. Remove the throttle body from the upper intake manifold.

  7. Check the condition of the throttle body-to-intake manifold seal. The seal can be reused if not damaged.

INSTALLATION

  1. Check the condition of the throttle body-to-intake manifold seal (1). The seal can be reused if not damaged.

  2. Clean the mating surfaces of the throttle body and intake manifold.

    3.  
  3. Position the throttle body (1) to the intake manifold.

    4.  
  4. Install the four throttle body mounting bolts (4) and tighten in a criss-cross pattern sequence to 9 N·m (80 in. lbs.).

  5. Connect the electrical connector (3) to the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) (1) and secure the ETC harness to the clip (2) on the throttle body.

  6. Install the air cleaner body (1) (Refer to 09 - Engine/Air Intake System/BODY, Air Cleaner - Installation) .

  7. Install the engine cover (1).

  8. Connect the negative battery cable and tighten nut to 5 N·m (45 in. lbs.).
