- Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
- Reach under the license plate lamp hood (1) to access and squeeze together the two latch tabs (4) integral to license plate lamp lens (3).
- Pull the lens downward and back out of the hood far enough to access the bulb socket (2).
- Firmly grasp the bulb socket on the back of the lens and rotate it counterclockwise about 30 degrees to unlock it.
- Pull the socket and bulb straight out from the keyed opening in the lens.

Firmly grasp and pull the bulb straight out of the socket.

- Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
- Remove the license plate from the rear license plate bracket.
- Remove the four screws (4) that secure the rear license plate bracket and lamp unit (3) to the four spring nuts (2) in the rear body sheet metal (5).
- Pull the bracket and lamp unit away from the rear body sheet metal far enough to access and disconnect the body wire harness connector (1) from the connector on the back of the bracket and lamp unit housing.

Remove the bracket and lamp unit from the vehicle.

- Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
- Remove the license plate from the rear bumper cover (1).
- Reach under and behind the rear bumper to access and disconnect the license plate lamp pigtail wire harness connector (2) from the body wire harness.
- Remove the two screws (3) that secure the rear license plate lamp unit (4) to the rear bumper cover.
- Pull the license plate lamp unit away from the rear bumper cover far enough to disengage the pigtail wire harness from the clearance hole.

Remove the bracket and lamp unit from the rear bumper cover.

Always use the correct bulb size
and type for replacement. An incorrect bulb size or type may overheat
and cause damage to the lamp, the socket or the lamp wiring.
CAUTION:

- Align the base of the bulb with the license plate lamp socket (2).
- Push the bulb straight into the socket until the base is firmly seated.
- Align the socket and bulb with the keyed opening on the back of the license plate lamp lens (3).
- Insert the socket and bulb into the lens until the socket is firmly seated.
- Rotate the socket clockwise about 30 degrees to lock it into place.
- Push the lens upward into the license plate lamp hood (1) until the two latch tabs (4) integral to the lens snap into place.

Reconnect the battery negative cable.

- Check to be certain that the four spring nuts (2) are in good condition and properly installed in the rear body sheet metal (5).
- Position the rear license plate bracket and lamp unit (3) to the rear body sheet metal.
- Reconnect the body wire harness connector (1) to the connector on the back of the bracket and lamp unit housing.
- Align the mounting holes of the bracket and lamp unit to the four spring nuts.
- Install and tighten the four screws (4) that secure the bracket and lamp unit to the rear body sheet metal. Tighten the screws to 1.5 N·m (15 in. lbs.).
- Reinstall the license plate onto the bracket.

Reconnect the battery negative cable.

- Position the rear license plate lamp unit (4) to the rear bumper cover (1).
- Insert the license plate lamp pigtail wire harness and connector (2) through the clearance hole in the rear bumper cover.
- Align the mounting holes of the license plate lamp unit to the two mounting holes in the rear bumper cover.
- Install and tighten the two screws (3) that secure the lamp unit to the rear bumper cover. Tighten the screws to 1.5 N·m (15 in. lbs.).
- Reach under and behind the rear bumper to reconnect the license plate lamp pigtail wire harness connector to the body wire harness.
- Reinstall the license plate onto the rear bumper cover.

Reconnect the battery negative cable.
