CABLE, Parking Brake

REMOVAL

REMOVAL



NOTE:

Park brake system must be locked out for servicing (Refer to 05 - Brakes/Parking Brake - Standard Procedure) .


  1. Remove the center console (3). (Refer to 23 - Body/Interior/CONSOLE, Center - Removal) .

    2.  
  2. Lockout the parking brake cable by pulling up on the brake cables at the equalizer (3) then installing or a suitable tool (1).

  3. Remove the cables from the equalizer (2).

    4.  
  4. Remove the cables from the body bracket (1) using a wrench to fit the end of the cable snug to depress the tangs.

    5.  
  5. Raise and support the vehicle.

    6.  
  6. Remove the cables and grommets (2) from the floor (1) of the vehicle.

    7.  
  7. Remove the cable (1) from the axle bracket (2).

    8.  
  8. Remove the brake cable (1) from the brake lever (2) at the support plate.

INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION

  1. Install the cable (1) to the axle bracket (2).

    2.  
  2. Install the cable (1) into the brake lever (2) at the support plate.

    3.  
  3. Install the cables and grommets (2) into the floor (1) of the vehicle.

    4.  
  4. Lower the vehicle.

    5.  
  5. Install the brake cables (2) to the body bracket (1).

    6.  
  6. Install the cables (2) to the equalizer.

    7.  
  7. Remove the lockout (1) for the park brake cable.

    8.  
  8. Check the park brake system operation.

    9.  
  9. Install the center floor console (3) (Refer to 23 - Body/Interior/CONSOLE, Center - Installation) .
