ADJUSTER, Seat Belt Turning Loop

REMOVAL

WARNING:

To avoid serious or fatal injury during and following any seat belt or child restraint anchor service, carefully inspect all seat belts, buckles, mounting hardware, retractors, tether straps, and anchors for proper installation, operation, or damage. Replace any belt that is cut, frayed, or torn. Straighten any belt that is twisted. Tighten any loose fasteners. Replace any belt that has a damaged or ineffective buckle or retractor. Replace any belt that has a bent or damaged latch plate or anchor plate. Replace any child restraint anchor or the unit to which the anchor is integral that has been bent or damaged. Never attempt to repair a seat belt or child restraint component. Always replace damaged or ineffective seat belt and child restraint components with the correct, new and unused replacement parts listed in the Chrysler Mopar® Parts Catalog. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.


  1. Unsnap the trim cover (4) from the front seat belt turning loop (2) and discard.

  2. Remove the screw (3) that secures the seat belt turning loop to the height adjuster (1) on the upper sport bar.

  3. Remove the seat belt turning loop from the height adjuster.

    4.  
  4. Remove the trim from the upper inner sport bar (2-door) or B-pillar (4-door) (1). (Refer to 23 - Body/Interior/PANEL, B-Pillar Trim - Removal) .

  5. Remove the screw (3) that secures the seat belt turning loop height adjuster to the upper inner sport bar (2-door) or B-pillar (4-door).

  6. Rotate the top of the adjuster downward 90 degrees, then pull the lower tab (2) out of the slot in the sport bar (2-door) or B-pillar (4-door).

  7. Remove the adjuster from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION

  1. Holding the seat belt turning loop adjuster horizontally, insert the tab (2) on the lower end of the adjuster into the slot in the upper inner sport bar (2-door) or B-pillar (4-door) (1).

  2. Rotate the top of the adjuster upward 90 degrees.

  3. Install and tighten the screw (3) that secures the top of the adjuster to the upper inner sport bar (2-door) or B-pillar (4-door). Tighten the screw to 40 N·m (30 ft. lbs.).

  4. Reinstall the trim onto the upper inner sport bar (2-door) or B-pillar (4-door). (Refer to 23 - Body/Interior/PANEL, B-Pillar Trim - Installation) .

  5. Position the seat belt turning loop (2) onto the height adjuster (1) on the upper sport bar. Be certain that the seat belt webbing between the retractor and the turning loop is not twisted.

  6. Install and tighten the screw (3) that secures the turning loop to the height adjuster. Tighten the screw to 40 N·m (30 ft. lbs.).

  7. Engage the upper edge of a new trim cover (4) over the top of the turning loop. Then squeeze the lower end of the trim cover and the turning loop together firmly and evenly until the engagement tabs of the trim cover snap into the slots of the turning loop.
