P0A0F-00-ENGINE FAILED TO START

When Monitored:
Any time an engine crank command is given.
Set Condition:
Immediately after reaching the state start, a timer is started, to check the overall start time. If the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) does not see the engine speed increase to over 750 RPM within five seconds after the start command is given, a fault is set.

Possible Causes
FUEL SYSTEM OR AIR HANDLING SYSTEM FAILURE
(T750) STARTER RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
HIGH RESISTANCE IN THE STARTER CABLE
POOR STARTER CABLE CONNECTION
STARTER MOTOR

1. FUEL OR AIR HANDLING DTCS PRESENT

1.	Ignition on, engine not running.

2.	With the scan tool, select View DTCs.

Are there any other fuel system related DTCs present?

Yes

Perform the diagnostics for the fuel system related DTC(s) before proceeding with this diagnostic procedure.

NOTE: A Fuel Injector circuit that is shorted to voltage or shorted to ground can cause a no start condition and possibly not set a fault code.
Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure).

2. PERFORM THE ENGINE CRANKS BUT WILL NOT START

1.	Perform the ENGINE CRANKS BUT WILL NOT START diagnostic procedure. (Refer to 29 - Non-DTC Diagnostics/Drivability - Diesel - Diagnosis and Testing) .
