U1199-LOST HOOD AJAR SWITCH VOLTAGE MESSAGE

When Monitored:
Continuously with the ignition on.

Set Condition:
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) doesn't receive an Engine Hood Switch 1 voltage message over the CAN BUS from the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM).
Possible Causes |

Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure).
| NOTE: | If the CAN BUS wiring is open or shorted, there will be several Lost Communication DTCs present. If this is the case, perform the appropriate Lost Communication DTC diagnostics before proceeding with this test procedure. |
| 1. | Ignition on, engine not running. |
| 2. | Using the scan tool, clear DTCs in the PCM. |
| 3. | Monitor the scan tool for at least two minutes. |
| 4. | Cycle the ignition key off and on several times, leaving the ignition on for at least 10 seconds at a time. |
| 5. | Start the engine. |
| 6. | Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature. |
| 7. | Using the scan tool, select View DTCs. |
Is the status Active for this DTC?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT DTC diagnostic procedure. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure).
2. TIPM COMMUNICATION RELATED DTCs IN OTHER MODULES
| 1. | With the scan tool, select Network Diagnostics. |
Is there more than one module with active DTCs “Logged Against” the TIPM at this time?
Yes
- Replace and program the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Totally Integrated Power (TIPM) - Standard Procedure).
No
- Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure).
